One trick to successfully becoming a police officer is to show and convince the hiring staff that you have had a life-long passion to become an officer of the law. Why would they look for such a person you might ask? Simple; training new officers is a lengthy and costly process. When the police department hires someone, they are hoping this person will be sticking around for at least 10 years, hopefully the full 30. The way that they try and decipher if you really are passionate about becomming a cop is by asking those closest to you (friends and family) how long you have wanted to be a police officer for and why they think you would be a good fit.
