If you are serious about becoming a police officer then you will be serious about getting into shape and hitting the weights. Much of a police officer's labors involve some form of physical activity, whether it be running after a suspect, wrestling a perpetrator to the ground, or racing to save someone's life. If you have any hope of becoming a police officer and making the final cuts, then it is imperative you start getting in shape now so you can finish the physical agility tests ahead of everyone else.
If you don't consider yourself to be in very good shape, it is advised that you begin your police physical training at least 3-6 months prior to the testing. If you feel that you are already in good shape and your muscles are toned, start training 1-2 months beforehand. Keep in mind that the police physical test can be quite rigorous and it is highly recommended that you give your body a good 1-2 days rest before taking the actual test.
